Welcome to Woodstock

The community derives its name from Woodstock, an 1826 novel by Walter Scott

No, we’re not talking about 1969, or the three-day music festival that took place in NY immortalized under the name “Woodstock.” We’re talking about the City of Woodstock, GA, one of the fastest-growing, and safest cities in Cherokee County some 30 miles north of Atlanta.

The City of Woodstock was incorporated in 1897, and it revolved around agriculture and mining. The 1980s began the serious growth of this once-agricultural area in the form of numerous subdivisions and businesses to truly shape the area as we know it today. Today, Woodstock is a bustling suburb of Atlanta, and its downtown has recently experienced wonderful revitalization with added businesses and homes, re-establishing itself as the true community center of the city.

That Downtown area is more pedestrian-friendly than ever with a recently completed streetscape project that has brought wider sidewalks, additional (and safer) pedestrian street crossings, double the number of on-street parking spaces, great restaurants, one-of-a-kind shopping experiences that can be found nowhere else (including over 25 locally owned unique shops), and great entertainment opportunities.
